Conference
I’m called Conference and my name has an unusual and prestigious origin. In 1885, the year I was born, I won first prize in the National British Pear Conference in London. From then on I did a lot of travelling before reaching Emilia-Romagna where I was discovered and loved from 1950 onwards. I found my home here in a place where I can grow with all the necessary care and an ideal climate. I have a conical and elongated shape and a very long stalk as if I were constantly trying to grasp something, maybe a sunbeam. I am rough and may seem grumpy, but I have an unexpected hidden sweetness that only those who choose to eat me know well. My dress is green-yellow, with extensive rusty parts that can seem almost bronze and my flavour is intense, perfumed and juicy. In fact, it's a pleasure to bite into me and let me dissolve slowly on the palate. I love autumn, when people start harvesting me, but also winter as I can rest happily for a long time and be enjoyed until January.
