My name is Kaiser otherwise known as Emperor Alexander, a pompous name with a very ancient flavour. I have French origins and was discovered for the first time at the beginning of the 1800s, in the forest of Apremont in Haute Savoie. Like some of my sisters, I left France for the Po Valley and for other parts of the world where I found fertile, welcoming plains. I have a large and fairly elongated shape and am firmly attached to the trees that grow me on a long and strong stalk. I have a concrete, strong character but like to step aside until September when I ripen and everyone who has been waiting can finally meet me. What makes me stand out from the others is my distinctive completely rusty colour, a nice brown which can almost become golden in the sun, making me look really precious. My flesh, which is grainy, is also unique, just like my sweet and really good flavour.
